Abstract

It is clinically important to determine the physiological centric relation as the treatment position of a patient with temporomandibular dysfunction, But, the physiologic mechanism responsible for centric relation is unknown, and there-fore several different theories have been developed.
In this study, it was presented a determining method of centric relation by the use of-leaf gauge and EM©ü.
The results were as follows.
1. A locating centric relation with a leaf gauge is a physiologic method.
2. It is necessory to equalize the muscle activities of right and left closing muscles with the EM©ü in the case of locating centric relation using a leaf gauge.
3. It is necessory to determine adquate thickness of leaf gauge obtain to the optimum position of the condyle in centric relation statistically.
